Heaven - Day Five - Let There Be Light

Pst E.A Adeboye

At the very beginning of time, God revealed Himself in a profound way. The Scriptures remind us that there is indeed Someone called God (Psalm 14:1; Proverbs 10:35), and it is only a fool who says there is no God. When He first introduced Himself to humanity, He chose the name "The All-Sufficient God" (Genesis 17:1; Luke 1:37). In His infinite power, God created two principal things: Heaven and Earth. Heaven, in all its splendour, became His throne, while Earth, though filled with chaos and disorder, was placed under His feet as His footstool (Isaiah 66:1).

God's Authority Over Chaos

The Earth was initially chaotic, full of turmoil and emptiness. Yet, even in this state, God demonstrated His sovereignty by placing it under His control, speaking order into existence. Our God, seated in the Heavens, controls all the affairs of the Earth by His Word. The moment He speaks, it comes to pass (Psalm 33:9; Genesis 1:3). When He declared, "Let there be light," light immediately dispelled the darkness.

Understanding "Let There Be Light"

The command "Let there be light" holds profound meaning:

  • It is a divine order for darkness to give way, for all forms of spiritual and physical darkness to flee (Mark 10:46-52).
  • It signifies the end of stagnation, bringing progress and movement where there was none (John 5:2-9).
  • It is a command for demons to leave, freeing the oppressed from their bondage (Mark 5:2-20).
  • It signals the end of sorrow, ushering in joy and peace (Psalm 30:5; Mark 5:35-43).

Chaos to Order

In the beginning, Earth was shrouded in confusion and disorder. But when God spoke, "Let there be light," order was established. This divine command can take three forms:

  1. A Command from God: Directly spoken by Him to bring change.
  2. An Advice from God: An invitation to receive His light and guidance (Revelation 3:20).
  3. A Cry for Help: A desperate plea from those seeking divine intervention.

Prayer Points:

  1. Thank Him that you can be here tonight, Thank Him that He's still on His throne
  2. Father, please speak to my body, I don't just want to be healed, I don't want to be sick again forever. Speak to my body!

  5. Speak to my life, that abundant life that you promised, I want it!
